Bang Kachao is arguably the best place in Bangkok to run, with a nearly infinite number of routes possible along the winding roads and elevated paths through the swamps and farmland.
Located just a 5 minute ferry from central Bangkok in the Phra Pradaeng district of Samut Prakan, Bang Kachao is a vast, lush area known for its verdant mangroves and shaded pathways. The area is home to several parks and green spaces, the most notable being Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park, which provides runners with well-maintained trails that loop through tranquil lakes and towering trees.
Running in Bang Kachao is unlike running anywhere else in Bangkok. The air is noticeably cleaner due to the thick greenery, and the natural surroundings create a sense of tranquility that's hard to find in the urban sprawl. For both casual joggers and serious athletes, the flat terrain, combined with scenic backdrops, makes it a perfect place to run.

The best time to run in Bang Kachao is early in the morning, when the air is cool, and the paths are quiet. Runners can often spot wildlife such as birds, monitor lizards, snakes and butterflies. Running clockwise is encouraged as the west side of the island has more shade later in the morning.
There are several places to refuel mid or post-run.

Hiddenwoods in the east of the island is open daily from 10.30 and has great food and coffee options.
Bang Nam Pheung floating market in the centre of the island is only open on the weekends, but offers some of the best market food available in Bangkok.
Bangkok Runners organise regular runs in Bang Kachao, both in the morning and occasionally at night.
